Technique - Photographs

I always start with a photograph or photographs I have taken myself. I look for interesting images to paint and often take multiple mobile phone shots to find or assemble a good picture. These are some examples of starting photographs for my Burgh Island and Castelo de Sao Jorge paintings. I try to distill the details and enhance the colors to make a more compelling image.
